- Turn off the water heater (or set to vacation mode)
- Drain the washing machine hoses
- Consider shutting the main valve if no one will visit
When you return
Turn the water back on slowly and check every fixture and visible pipe for leaks before assuming all is well. If you winterized fully, a plumber can safely recommission the system.
